Anam PALF

Anam PALF by Ananas Anam: the premium textile-grade fibre made from waste pineapple leaves.

Our premium textile-grade fibre, Anam PALF® has been developed using our own technology and traceable supply chain. Anam PALF offers an essential solution to the textile crisis and, to increase its positive impact, we are now introducing it to the wider material market.

We use a unique proprietary method to process the pineapple leaf fibres to premium textile grade, with no bleaching, no pulping and no dyeing. An enzymatic process is used to remove impurities without using any harmful chemicals; the rest of the process is fully mechanical.

Anam PALF is traceable from plant to product and comes with a Certificate of Origin. Anam PALF is strong and durable, the composition being mostly cellulose means it is easily dyable using natural or conventional dyes. Due to our unique processing, it remains in its most natural form and processed to a staple fibre grade, helping to mitigate microfiber pollution.

Anam PALF is the key ingredient in our products Piñatex and Piñayarn, creating positive social and environmental impact as a traceable fibre made from agricultural waste. We are looking forward to collaborations that will bring a positive impact on people and planet.

Anam PALF Process

After the pineapples have been harvested for food, the leaves of the plant are considered a waste product and are often burned, releasing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Ananas Anam uses a unique proprietary method to process the pineapple leaf fibres to textile grade, with no bleaching, no pulping and no dyeing. An enzymatic wash is used to remove impurities without using any harmful chemicals, while the rest of the process is fully mechanical.

Using the waste leaves of the fruit harvest provides positive social impact through generating an additional and diversified income stream for the pineapple farmers, while also creating jobs in rural communities.
